Industrial action which was scheduled by the NTEU at Victoria University for Thursday 12, Friday 13, Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18, Monday 23, and Friday 27 March has been suspended
President of the VU NTEU Richard Gough indicated in a recent email to staff that substantial progress in negotiations for a new collective agreement was made at a meeting with management today.
The NTEU remains concerned about the processes associated with “Sustainable VU” and the possibility of retrenchments.
However, the NTEU believes at the present time sufficient progress has been made to warrant suspending industrial action for the time being.
Friends of VU will keep you updated on developments.
Once again the support from students, the community and staff has been decisive in this positive outcome.

What is happening with the Sunbury and Melton campuses?
We do not want to lose our universities (staff, students and facilities) in the North and West at a time of expansion in the region.

Hi Wendy,
Thanks for your question. Friends of VU will be continuing to campaign to ensure the Melton and Sunbury campuses remain open. As far as we know, the University believes that the two campuses are “unviable”.

Hi M,
No, all industrial action has been postponed due to negotiations between the NTEU and University senior management.
