Dear Professor Harman,
I am writing to express my opposition to the job cuts, campus closures and course phase-outs in 2009.
As an alumni of Victoria University, I am extremely concerned that the changes will have an adverse effect on current and future students, as well as staff and the community. I am also unhappy that these changes were made without extensive consultation with students, staff, the community and local and state government.
Furthermore, I am concerned that the changes will undermine the institutional reputation of Victoria University, reducing the value of my degree and those of my fellow and future alumni.
Victoria University is supposed to be the university of the West, but it appears that you and other members of the University Council are disconnected from the mission of VU.
I urge you to reconsider your approach, and to engage in genuine consultation with affected staff, students and the community.
Yours sincerely
[your-name]
Your email will be sent to Elizabeth Harman, Vic Uni Vice-Chancellor, and cc’d to the NTEU.
