Dear Professor Harman,

I am writing to express my opposition to the job cuts, campus closures and course phase-outs in 2009.

As a member of the community that is served by Victoria University, I am extremely concerned at the impact that these changes will have on me, my family and the community. I am also unhappy that these changes were made without extensive consultation with the local council, affected community groups, local Members of Parliament, not to mention students and staff.

Victoria University is supposed to be the university of the West, but it appears that you and other members of the University Council have given up providing higher education to disadvantaged communities in the West in favour of running business courses in the Melbourne CBD.

I urge you to reconsider your approach, and to engage in genuine consultation with affected communities, staff and students.

Yours sincerely
[your-name]

Your email will be sent to Elizabeth Harman, Vic Uni Vice-Chancellor, and cc’d to the NTEU.

Can you consider putting up an automatic form for former students (alumni) to protest? The other form letters are not quite relevant.

    thanks

    Hi Fiona,

Thanks for the advice. We have created an alumni page here:
